'List file' doesn't work on Desktop.
Condition:
TC PB2,
IrfanView is associated with jpg extension.
steps:
-Go to desktop with commanad cm_OpenDesktop,
-press 'F3' on jpg files - message 'File not found!'.
-press 'Ctrl+q' - it is OK.
If one goes to Desktop in traditional way F3 works
Regards,
J

Indeed you need to use Lister for F3 to be able to use it on the Desktop, sorry.

Hi, folks.
I admit that by now I fail to
+ reproduce the reported problem
+ understand the given answers
OK, I have setup a first T.C. instance to use IrfanView to display multimedia files (this includes jpeg-files).
I have not created any T.C. internal file association pointing to Irfanview at all. (How would this interfere with the T.C. internal lister which is launched by pressing F3, not by doublie-clicking?)
I have setup a second T.C. instance to use the lister plugin Imagine to display multimedia files (this includes jpeg-files). This installation is absolutely ignorant of the existence of IrfanView.
If I go to the Windows Desktop (cm_opendesktop) in the 1st T.C. instance, select the only existing JPG-file and press F3, the T.C. lister will open and display the file just fine.
(Process Explorer proves that i_view32.exe has been loaded by totalcmd.exe. So IrfanView is used by the lister to display the JPG-file)
If I go to the Windows Desktop (cm_opendesktop) in the 2nd T.C. instance, select the only existing JPG-file and press F3, the T.C. lister will open and display the file just fine.
(Process Explorer proves that no i_view32.exe is used, but that imagine.wlx has been loaded.)
In neither case, there is an error message telling "File not found."
What do I do incorrectly in order to reproduce the problem?
Kind regards,
Karl

Hi, _Jan_.
Yes, confirmed.
Using the function "external viewer" will not work for files on the Windows Desktop (cm_opendesktop).
("external viewer" is still assigned to the key-combo Alt-F3 and "internal viewer" to F3. This is why I failed to understand.)
Calling the external viewer inside the folder "%userprofile%\desktop" will work as expected, though.
Cheers,
Karl
Oh, I see.Set F3 to run External viewer.
