Which font are you using in the file panel?
I just tested some fonts for the file panel, but many of them are looking very bad in TC. So here a poll (to get some ideas what fonts are looking good in TC.) Currently I use MS Sans Serif 9 normal.
If you use an other font please add the name in a post.
A screenshot of it would be nice. Also if possible a source of the font.

Sorry but the answers in the poll are not well chosen as the default fonts on 2000/XP is Tahoma 8 and Segoe UI on Windows Vista/Seven. It doesn't make sense to use another font in TC as in all other applications.
The default font problem must be fixed ASAP! I won't stop repeating myself until it's done!
... and sorry once again. I guess that eyes of many TC users have already been impaired irrecoverably by TC's default font...

Default ones for a very long time but I've changed it two months ago to:
Segoe UI, 8, standard
Segoe UI, 8, standard
Agree with that. My current font seems to fit better for me now but it looked very strange after change. I was using default one for 5 years at least and have never realized it was bad.Lefteous wrote:... and sorry once again. Oh no, don't torture me. Don't send me to Guantanamo, please. I will confess: I have been using the evil font [face=tahoma]O Microsoft Sans Serif, 8, b[/face] for years now on
+ Win2K
+ WinXP
+ Win2003
+ Vista
for the simple reason that it worked flawlessly on all platforms.
But I am ready for a change, yes, I am, maybe.

Just noticed that the font is [face=tahoma]O Microsoft Sans Serif[/face] really, not MS Sans Serif, which exists, too. Vaguely remember having reconfigured T.C. to use [face=tahoma]O Microsoft Sans Serif[/face] instead of MS Sans Serif a long time ago.

OK. "Acceptable" is better term.
1st : bold fonts took more space than standard ones so it is better to not use them IMHO.
Microsoft Sans Serif is too much condensed for my taste and it is hard to read it.
MS Sans Serif is not bad choice but it becomes unreadable with some background colours (at least with these chosen by me).
Standard Segoe looks way better because there is a little more space between letters and their lines are thicker. It seems to be in the middle between bold and standard styles of other fonts.
This is my personal choice only but I've tried many other fonts and most of them was hurting my eyes, due to old habits (with default one), vision problems or simply readability (as I wrote before: condensed fonts were thrown away).
Simple comparison:

Depends on a colour setup. With black font / white background it's not the case, but if you use a lot of colors (44 here), some have to be bright and low contrast with background makes standard fonts readability very poor.fenix_productions wrote:1st : bold fonts took more space than standard ones so it is better to not use them IMHO.
Can you add Tahoma to your comparison?

Hello !
• The hellish MS Sans Serif is no longer the default font, 29 upper ANSI characters are missing in it…
- Now, it's Microsoft Sans Serif, AFAIK… It's complete.
• I use Times New Roman, 11, bold in my PC, I used the same with a 486 and Win 3.1…
- It's aesthetic and more readable for my old eyes which are getting …
…[face=timesnewroman]67 TODAY[/face] exactly (also a Friday…) …
… So I offer to myself that…
…[face=timesnewroman]5,000th. message !
Yep ! [/face]
