I do not see a problem in displaying such info. This column is pretty good for displaying any info about drives. Please tell me, what is the reason in removing labels column?
Try to set all bad labels as non-breaking space (NumAlt+0160) in the [DriveHints] section of wincmd.ini - I think it will hide this column.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to change label for "Network Neighborhood" ('/' and '\' drives not working for it).
Oops, in TC 7.50 it is possible to set label for "Network Neighborhood" by changing a label for '\' drive.

So, labels column becomes is almost invisible.[DriveHints]
A=<non-breaking space>
C=<non-breaking space>
G=<non-breaking space>
Z=<non-breaking space>
\=<non-breaking space>
