File gets selected while mousing over with SingleClickStart
Hi all,
I have noticed some strange behavior in 7.5 beta which I cannot reproduce in 7.04a. Sometimes when moving the mouse cursor over files, they get selected for a fraction of a second and then deselected again.
See this video, specifically frames 149, 189, 242, 249, 253, 305, 309, 311, 361, 396, 411 and 423. You can use software such as VirtualDub to check those exact frames.
I use:
SingleClickStart=1
FileTipWindows=1
Win32TipWindows=1
OleComments=0
Has anyone else noticed this behavior?
TIA
Roman

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
Boofo,
But for this one I used UVScreenCamera. It shows mouse clicks, etc., but not really necessary for this video.

Please create videos (or screenshots) of bugs when possible!What did you use to make the video?

Hello Hacker,
I have tried it in several ways; I have changed SingleClickStart=6 to SingleClickStart=1 for check, enable/disable color by file types, using inverse cursor, using inverted selection, with a fresh ini, etc.
But I can not* reproduce it here.
A little remark; Reviewing your video frame by frame, I can observe a behaviour that happens me some times: Rarely the icon for a file is hide for a little brief period of time and milliseconds later it is redraw. On my system, this behaviour only happens for files with internal associations. I don't know if it is related with you case, ¿? perhaps as curiosity... Is it reproducible for all files in TC? or... only for files with internal associations?

I have Techsmith's Camtasia Studio but I haven't really messed with it a whole lot yet. Kind of confusing in some areas.
chmod a+x /bin/laden -- Allows anyone the permission to execute /bin/laden

Sombra,
Boofo,
Isn't that the really expensive one?

Can? Cannot?But I can reproduce it here.
The JPGs in the video do not have internal associations.On my system, this behaviour only happens for files with internal associations. I don't know if it is related with you case, ¿? perhaps as curiosity... Is it reproducible for all files in TC? or... only for files with internal associations?
Boofo,

Hi Roman,
• I watched your video, I cannot reproduce this here either.
- I use SingleClickStart=6 normally and the inverted cursor, I changed to “1” by hand–> Restart :
¤ The cursor follows the mouse, but the items are never selected, just marked as expected.
- That looks like an after-imagery of the screen, perhaps the calls about that are different with 7.5 ?
- Which kind of screen are you using ? I've a CRT still, I can't see that…
- Just a guess, of course.
EDIT : Playing with a bit more, I noticed:
DSCF0200.JPG gets selected (is red, I assume it's the selection colour ?)
DSCF0195.JPG is neither marked, nor selected, full black background, the file name is totally hidden…

DemoStudio Still…

Hi Bob !
{Aside}
• I use DemoStudio, it seems it's still available…
- Mine is in French here… A very “kind” programme
It's a continuation of CamStudio, many files are same.
- I use it to record as *.AVI only, the produced SWF format doesn't work here with any viewer. Main advantage :
Gratis, generally sufficient to show tests.

Clo,
Boofo,
Roman
I am using an LC display.Which kind of screen are you using ?
Yes, in frame 396 it gets the selection color (red, the default) for a moment.DSCF0200.JPG gets selected (is red, I assume it's the selection colour ?)
Yes, well, I guess that is a redrawing artefact, not sure if it can be avoided.DSCF0195.JPG is neither marked, nor selected, full black background, the file name is totally hidden…
Boofo,
Nope, just the free one.Are you using the registered version of UVScreenCamera?

This isn't a bug, but a workaround to a Windows bug: When you use LB_SETCARETINDEX to set the cursor position, Windows will always scroll the item completely into view, also if the option is set to scroll it only partially into view. So what TC does is use LB_SETSEL to select the item, which sets the cursor on it WITHOUT scrolling it into view.

Christian,

Thanks

Ah, that's why! OK.When you use LB_SETCARETINDEX to set the cursor position, Windows will always scroll the item completely into view, also if the option is set to scroll it only partially into view. So what TC does is use LB_SETSEL to select the item, which sets the cursor on it WITHOUT scrolling it into view.

I have never claimed that. We are not in the Bug Reports forum.This isn't a bug, but a workaround to a Windows bug

Thanks

Clo, Sombra,
Now that Christian mentioned it, it occured to me that you probably do not see the behavior because you are using Full view as opposed to Brief view which I am using.
