7.5PB4: Quick filter: Shift+Home, type doesn't work

Post by *m^2 »

1. Go to TC directory.
2. Press Ctrl+S
3. Press H
4. Press Shift+Home
5. Press T
Nothing happens. Expected: TC changes filter to "T".

Confirmed.

If you have a file named "...TH..." it would fit and quicksearch uses string TH. If there is no such file nothing happens, like described.

Confirmed!

…but we all know QS lacks basic text editing features.

Your right. Changing this would be the best improvement related to the Quicksearch.

Do we really do? I didn't know that I did. Likely because I didn't.
It's an edit box and should work like one. Users are not supposed to know it's oddities, just use it and have it working.

I.e. left/right arrows or no possibility to type anything you want to. Wrting is stopped on first not matching character. You should have the possibility to write anything even if it means empty list after first letter. Of course, I am talking about built-in functionality (not Samuel's DLL).

I agree with that.

Quick search and quick filter do not support overtyping, sorry. Currently this isn't planned.

Is it planned to allow the Left/Right arrows to move the cursor within the QuickFilter box? Instead of the Command Line stealing focus?

16.06.09 Added: Quick search/filter dialog: Handle left/right arrow buttons internally, except in brief view where they are needed to go through columns
Isn't it this what you asked about?

Yeah, I'm a bit behind in the Betas. Thanks.
