still problems with ex2fs
Hi,
I still have a problem with trying to access an external harddisk with USB interface. I wrote about it some time ago and have been using other tools for linux partitions, but I really liked the comfort of using Total Commander. So I thought to ask again if someone has an idea what to do.
Here's a description of the problem
I have my hd connected and in TC when I select the Network Neighbourhood\ linux-drives nothing happens.
The status field tells:
CONNECT \
Ext2 plugin: 0 partition(s) found
Make sure you run as an Administrator!
a second try gives the further line
Ext2 plugin: DIR \
and I am still in the main window of the Network Neighbourhood
I am using XP as an Administrator, I have also switched off both antivirus and firewall, the result is always the same.
I have tried explore2fs-1.08beta9.zip and I have access to the drive and data with no problem at all.
I am gratefull for any help

Strange, I don't have any problems to access an SD card (in an USB card reader) which is formatted with EXT2. It shows up as folder "SDC" in ex2fs.
Did you try the latest beta of ex2fs? You may have the problem with large inode size, see this thread:

What makes it even more strange, it was working perfectly up to some time and then not anymore. I, knowingly, did or installed not something that should have influence on it.
When using the plugin I do not even get shown that there is a drive with a linux partition (explore2s shows the harddisk/partition and files).
Quite strange.

Something MUST have changed so it no longer works. Did you install some low level program like a firewall or antivirus tool recently?

That could indeed be the problem, because it can mount images as drive letters (if I remember correctly). This may prevent the plugin from low-level access to drives. But then Explore2fs should fail too because the ext2 plugin is based on it...

Thanks for the information, I will test it.siealex wrote:Try to use ''fsdriver'' (I do not remember the exact name), it's a windows driver for R/W access to Ext2/3 partitions.

Today I had the chance to test the plugin on a system without Acronis. It worked on my harddisk without trouble. So it seem that my problem is caused by True Image 2009.
What's also interesting: with Acronis True Image 11 as predecessor it worked.
So thanks for the help
