Synchronize dirs does not work with encrypted zip

Post by *MarianD »

Try this: Pack arbitrary file (Alt-F5) and check "Encrypt" - next give the password (I entered simply "a"). I packed it to the same directory - both panel were the same.

Now update this stand-alone file and on the right panel open archive (with packed older version of the same file). Chose "Synchronize directories" and in the dialog press Compare and Synchronize. You will be 2 time asked for password - I entered it ("a"). After this pops-up message box WITH UNHIDDEN PASSWORD as the text in the title bar and the message "Unfortunately this function doesn't support Unicode characters!"

There were NO Unicode characters - NO in the file name of file (a.txt), NO in the content of file (only the letter "a", with the carriage return and line feed, hexadecimal 0x610D0A), NO in the name of the archive (a.zip).

(The direct copying - F5 - makes no problem.)

Hello, Christian.

Have just updated an encrypted ZIP file (created by T.C. using internal ZIP with AES256 encryption) successfully with the help of "Synchornize Dirs".

I had to enter the needed password twice: enter password and re-enter for confirmation. The entered password was not displayed anywhere in clear text.

Therefore, I assume that synchronizing encrypted ZIP files is supported correctly by T.C. 7.50 PB5.

+ Windows Vista Home Premium, 32bit
+ Total Commander 7.50 PB5

Kind regards,
Karl

Thanks for testing! Indeed synchronize dirs will ask for the password once when unpacking only, and twice when packing and unpacking (or packing only).

Can anyone else confirm that it works now?
