Size change on maximize and restore the Multi-Rename Tool

Post by *Samuel »

TC 7.5 pb4 (perhaps also pb1,2,3...)
If I maximize and restore the Multi-Rename Tool, then the previous size is not used. Instead I have a wider Window.

Couldnt reproduce in TC 7.0.

Edit:
I also cant resize the window horizontal in one step. Have to make it a little smaller, again a little smaller and a last time a little smaller...

Resolution here: 1600x1200

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it on Windows XP SP3. Here is what I tried:

1. Place cursor on a file
2. Press Ctrl+M
3. Maximize the tool
4. Restore the tool -> same size as before
5. Maximize the tool
6. Close the tool
7. Re-open the tool
8. restore the tool -> same size as before
9. Re-open the tool
10. Resize by putting mouse in lower right -> could resize both width and height

What did you do differently?

Please note that there is a certain minimum size which is used when you open the tool for the first time, or restore it. This size is larger than the minimum possible width. Once this minimum width is set, the tool will restore to that width.

Win XP SP3:

1. Place cursor on a file
2. Press Ctrl+M
3. Maximize the tool
4. Restore the tool -> different size as before
5. Afterwards shorten the width in several steps.

Minsize shouldnt be 1425...

I can confirm it under XP P3 - even with a clean ini file.

Here the horizontal size after restoring is so big that the window exeeds way past the right screen edge (using 1280x1024 resolution)

EDIT: using for example 1024x768 resolution, then the expansion of the window after restoring is not so pronounced and might not be noticed at first glance.

I can also confirm this under Windows 7 (x64).
Maybe it should be made clear how I reproduced it:
1. Place cursor on file
2. Press Ctrl+M
3. Grab right border and (really) increase the width of the window
4. Release mouse
5. Grab right border and decrease size. It works but not to the point it was before.
6. Release mouse
7. Grab right border again and it is possible to decrease the width of the window a bit more

Repeat step 6-7 to shrink the window size more and more but it is not possible to obtain the size in one step (in general).

The value of RenameDX has to be smaller than a certain size which is dependant of the screen resolution in order to see the bug.

Examples:
1024x768: RenameDX<847
1152x864: RenameDX<975
1280x1024: RenameDX<1103

Notice that it is always 177 pixels smaller than the screen width!

I could find the problem now - it's because the width of the "upper/lowercase" box is changed now! It's size was used to calculate the minimum width.
