Selected folder status dissappears on changing focus
Hello everyone. I think I've found kind of strange behavior in TC 7.5b3.
In Total Commander 7.04a, I used to mark several folders for copy purposes after looking at their total size by pressing Shift-Alt-Enter. That works fine also in TC 7.5b3. However, what TC 7.5b3 lacks (bug?) when compared to TC 7.04a is to keep the marked status of the selected folders when I change focus to another application, i.e. a cd burner. TC 7.04a keeps the mark of the selected folders as well as their size, but TC 7.5b3 forgets it and instead comes again with the plain folder view (no total size) for you to select them again.
This behavior can only be be seen if you get the total size of the folders using the Shift-Alt-Enter key combo when having a panel with several folders. If you get the individual folder size (by pressing space bar) then TC 7.5 b3 behaves normally and you can keep the selected status (and total size) no matter the window focus.
Sorry if this has already posted, I did not find similar instances.

• I can confirm that, 7.04a keeps the selection, 7.5 ß-3-P doesn't when switching through applications via Alt+Tab.…when compared to TC 7.04a is to keep the marked status of the selected folders when I change focus to another application, i.e. a cd burner. I can confirm that too - it seems that TC 7.5 thinks that the directory has changed, although it hasn't...

Hello, Christian.
The behaviour reported by jotapali can be reproduced here using
+ Windows XP Prof, SP2, 32bit
+ Total Commander 7.50 pb3
and following the steps explained by jotapali.
The behaviour can no longer be reproduced here using
+ Windows XP Prof, SP2, 32bit
+ Total Commander 7.50 pb5
Conclusion:
Total Commander 7.50 pb5 remembers the "selected" status of selected folders even if you switch away from and back to Total Commander using Alt-Tab.
So the problem has been solved.
Kind regards,
Karl

It still happens to me, using TC 7.5 pb5 and Windows 7 RC 32-bit using following steps:
1. Go to Configuration -> Display
2. Set "Sorting directories" to "Like files (also by time)"
3. Click OK
4. Browse to folder with many subfolders
5. Sort by Size
6. Press Alt+Shift+Enter
7. (optional step) Select some folders
8. Focus another application
Folders are deselected and no their size is no longer displayed.
I tried using DirSizeCalc but it can't display total size of multiple folders (AFAIK) so it's unusable for me.

Hello, Kole.
It can be reproduced e.g. on Windows XP Prof SP2, 32bit, too, by following the steps you have given (steps 5. and 6. should be swapped I assume in order to sort the folders by their sizes - first calculate, next sort, not vice versa - at least this is what I did)
Note:
No changes occur inside the folders while switching away from and back to T.C. So the folder sizes do not change.
Environment:
+ Windows XP Prof, SP2, 32bit
+ Total Commander 7.50 PB5
+ Total Commander 7.04a
Kind regards,
Karl

When I confirmed the bugfix I had not bothered to activate the setting "sort directories like files" before. This setting seems to make the difference. (It does.)1. Go to Configuration -> Display
2. Set "Sorting directories" to "Like files (also by time)"
3. Click OK
4. Browse to folder with many subfolders
6. Press Alt+Shift+Enter
5. Sort by Size
7. (optional step) Select some folders (... skipped, not required)
8. Focus another application
9. Focus T.C.

I can confirm the bug too, but only when sorting by size, and only when the size column is handled by TC (full view or content plugin tc.Size) - if the size column is handled by DirSizeCalc it doesn't happen.
