Optional Aero usage on Vista/Seven

Post by *webmaster442 »

It would be very nice if optionally Total Commander could expand aero Glass to the menus & the toolbars. (or to the whole window) With this feature it would look much better on Windows Vista and Seven.

Welcome webmaster442!

I don't have Vista or 7 so I can't test if it actually works for you, but have you checked the option 'windows XP theme background' in configuration > Options > Layout?

A good visual design would not need a glass effect. It's like in one of the child's OS to communicate: Hey look we can do glass effect. How poor is that?

A good design ...
But the GUI could be better integrated into the operatingsystem
Even without the glass effect.
The Total Commander is here not a good example

Hmm, I don't think that these should be semi-transparent, it just makes the text harder to read...

I use a short time glasser for firefox , transparents really has no advantages. I switch it off again.
But a "smoother" GUI would be nice.
For example remove the horizontal lines between the menubar, buttonbar and Drivelist etc.
The Total Commander looks more like Windows Classic and it makes him look old and unfashionable, unfortunately.
Look at the default firefox themes with Aero and and compare it with classic design. The Aero Design it looks more "up-to-date".

BTW, Total Commander's window on Aero looks just as any other Aero window, glassed border, light menu colours etc. I dont think that TC should do something that will make it look not as Aero window.

But I think, without lines and a recolored menubar it looks "smoother" and fashionable.

Look at my "photoshopped" screenshot:

Here one could also use transparency.
But I give Christian right " it just makes the text harder to read"
