Request: Better way to manage hotkeys

Post by *robinsiebler »

The internal way of managing HotKeys in TC is quite cumbersome. Manually editing the ini file is no better. It would be great if someone would right a tool to manage hotkeys in TC.

I looked at it, but it really isn't any better. There is no easy way to see all of the keys that are assigned or unassign a key.

No I suggested an improvement to hotkeys here. It got shot down handily... I thought it would be an excellent improvent.

To show what command a key is assigned instead of always "Default Command".
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

There are two columns "Default Hotkey" and "User-defined Hotkey" where you can find all used hotkeys!

To group all hotkeys together so that it is easy to check if a key used or not:

1. Sort the list from View> Sorted list option then click on desired column.

2. Export to text file from File> Export to text file command then select "Default Hotkey" and "User-defined Hotkey" and click on save button.

Moreover if you assigned a hotkey that is already in use, a warning message will popup.

What do you need more?

I don't understand why integrated feature is not good. Just go in TC to Misc page in Configuration and press a button with down arrow near the "Hotkey:" radio button. And you'll see all redefined hotkeys. If you choose any item in this list, TC will load it for changing or removing. Quite easy to find out what keys are assigned. What else do you need?

When you select key modifier, ie [x] Control
and a Key from the pulldown list,
IF TC has a default action for that Key, it should show what that action is instead of "Default Command (no remapping)"

Whether or not TC has an action for that Key combination or not, it always displays "Default Command (no remapping)"
