Inplace rename of the folder to the name that already exist

Post by *Postkutscher »

I would like to have a question such as
A directory with the name
bla-bla
already exists.

If you want to move your dir as a subfolder into this one choose "yes".
If you want to move all content of your dir to the existing one and overwrite its content choose "no".
Or "cancel".

[Yes][No][Cancel]
instead of
A directory with the name
bla-bla
already exists.

do you want to move your file/dir to this subdirectory?

[Yes][No]

I think you mean that Windows Explorer just moves contents of one folder to another if you rename folder?

BTW, you should keep in mind that folder renaming is equal to operation move Name1 Name2, and this command (if Name2 is existing folder) is equal to move Name1 into Name2 folder command.

No, it was not upon to Explorer or "move" command. I said only the way to operate, which I think comfortable.
I see a profit at two points:
1. One have now a reaction on "esc".
2. One can flexibly choose a behaviour, that he may find more comfortable, intuitive or whateverelse, on runtime, without another one ini key :)
