too many FTP connections open problem

Post by *ado »

This happen to me today: I wanted to open an FTP connection, so I pressed Ctrl-F and nothing happen. After a few attempts to make it working I pressed Alt-F2 and noticed, that I have already 10 FTP connections open. So I closed some of them and open new one that I needed.
So where is the problem? TC didn't let me know, that I pressed correct shortcut, but I reach a limit for number of opened FTP connections...
Christian, please implement some simple kind of a feedback in such case. Simple beep or error dialog box will do. I am not asking for more FTP connections - just error feedback.

thank you

:) Hello !

• Hm… Might not an old user like you be aware of :

Help-Tutos wrote
Total Commander contains a built-in FTP client. With this client you can access up to 10 FTP servers at the same time
over the Internet or a company Intranet.
? :P
- Well, more seriously :  Indeed, some indication¦warning is missing when the last possible (tenth) connection is set… 8)
- Hence, I support ! I would be rather in favour of a message, because a beep couldn't be understood… Like :
«Warning ! The maximal amount of possible connections (10) is reached ! You can't add any !»

honestly - I didn't know there is such limit till yesterday. But as I wrote, I realized it as soon as I pressed Alt-F2.
You know, sometimes I am lazy to check existing connections and opening a new connection to the server where I already have one - that's exactly happened what yesterday. Across 2-3 days I opened 10 connections together to 3 or 4 servers. Since all of them are on local network, I do not have need to close them and they are quite faster than accessing the same servers via SAMBA share
