Coco,
Thank you. I still can't seem to get it to work.
created "programs.tab" file -it reads:
E:\program files\Hozilla\
E:\program files\Moz_15\
E:\program files\Moz_1.4.1\
Put file in E:\
path=
E:\tabfiles\programs.tab
created Button in toolbar:
Command=
opentabs E:\tabfiles\programs.tab
- doesn't work.
I tried command=
cm_opentabs E:\tabfiles\programs.tab
- doesn't work.
Probably somethings wrong with my syntax. All help greatly appreciated.
I have TCExtMenu.mnu installed on win98se machine - could there be a confict ?

The structure of a tabfile is not pathes only but more like an ini file with sections.
You can create a file step by step:
1. create all Tabs at Total Commander
2. do a right mouse click on such a tab
3. Select "Save Tabs to file"
4. point to "E:\tabfiles" and call it "programs.tab"
That will create a tabfile with the correct syntax !

On te tabs issue
I have read the discussion and the tabs seem to be something everybody is happy and getting lots of talk here. I also think they are useful, and an elegant replacement to the hotlist directory list and the history nagivation feature.ea
What I find annoying is that, besides the tabs defined (locked or not) by the user, Total COmmander opens a new tab for you for evey directory you visit, which then renders the tabs feature almost useless because the accumulation of tabs is quick and soon you have 50 tabs there.
There must be a way to tell Totcmd not to open tabs unless you tell it to do so by using the CTRL-UP ARROWM feature.
I have not found a way to enable/disable this behaviour.

Well Christian I had the same problem and I used the fullshortname of the file, and then it worked fine....ghisler(Author) wrote:Huh?
opentabs C:\long name\language.tab
works fine here, even with TC installed in a directory with spaces!
Please explain?
The future is so bright, you've got to ware shades...

Hmm, did the long name contain any Unicode characters from a different codepage? Or was it otherwise special, e.g. very long? Did you try with the above sample name
C:\long name\language.tab
?
I have tried to reproduce the long name problem, but it's working just fine here too!
