Copy Dialog Box Enhancement

Post by *risk »

I have about a dozen frequently-used directories that I often copy files from various places into. It would be handy if the copy/move dialog box, similar to the Tree button, would have a favorites button that shows a list of maintainable favorites destinations.

The tool/plugin "Twinkey" offers this function.

Thanks for the suggestion Peter.

I installed and activated TWinKey. However, I cannot figure out how to use it and search does not turn-up much info.

Any help using TWinKey, especially for coping files to favorite directories would be appreciated.

here is my "personal manual".

For Twinkey you have to consider some steps:
  1. Preface
  2. Installation
  3. Configuration
  4. Activation
  5. Automatic usage
  6. Manual usage
1. Preface
Twinkey is a tool with offers
  • modification of TC-features and TC-display. This is done (normally in background) by the WDX-file which has the form of a content file. The modifications happens in auto-mode (display, colors, ...) AND/OR by user-commands (shortcuts, mouse)
  • configuration of this modifications, done by an EXE-file
2. Installation:
Like all other plugins - downlaod the ZIP, doubleclick in TC - follow the instructions.
Open the ReadMe.html (or ReadMe_Russian.html) - and take a look at "Favorites & Templates"

3. Configuration:
Start TwinkUtil.exe.
You will find many options to set, but there is an important difference between groups of settings:
- "Keyboard Mapping" to define the shortcuts the user wants to use
- options, colors, style which define the modified display
- Plugins (2nd level plugins inside the main-plugin)

Actual your problem:
- go to "plugins"
- activate "enable", green "+" - select "tcdirmenu.dll" - open
- select "TC Favorites" in new displayed menu
- enter a new hotkey (shortcut) for this command (right bottom of dialogue). E.g. click on green icon - press "Ctrl+Shift+F" (or what you like - and consider the messages that will probably appear...)

4. Activation
The plugin must be activated - configuration alone is not enough.
There are two way to activate it.
  • automatic on start of TC: see readme.html
  • manually: e.g. press "Alt-F7" (search) - select "Twinkey" in the "Plugins-Tab" - it will be activated - Esc.
Control the activation: "Ctrl+right mouse" on a Tab should display a color-dialogue

5. Automatic usage
all automatic feature (e.g. view modes etc. - depending on you settings made above) will work now

6. Manual usage
all features where you have defined shortcuts will be ready now.

Actual your problem:
- start a copy or move or pack command
- the default path of the target panel will be displayed
- press your defined shortcut (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+F) - the TC-favorites will appear
- select a favorite - the target path will be replaced

That's all - rather easy
