Use Internal Copy for Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V

Post by *Aezay »

A while ago I made this thread in the general forum:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=24670

To recap, I would like an option in Total Commander that uses the internal copy settings when "pasting" a file using Ctrl+V.

The reason for this is simply that this is my preferred method of copying and moving files around, and I miss the extra options and features that are not offered by the windows copy/move file dialog, such as rename, compare, overwrite older etc. All features offered in TotalCmd.

Well, allow me point out some drawbacks:
Using TC internal copy only will inhibit the windows internal copy method as a fallback.
Furthermore: What shall TC do if Ctrl-C is pressed at Explorer or a file select box and Ctrl-V at TC ?

That is no problem, as they are stored in the clipboard as a HDROP data format, API functions exists to deal with that. Although there might be something I am unaware of.

I'm not sure what you mean by inhibiting the windows internal copy as fallback?

But remember, I would like to see this as an option, not as a new default.

There had been problems in the past like "Copy from/to desktop" or other virtual folders with TC. This operations are still handled well by windows internal copy.
