Shift+UP/DOWN select

Hi

In normal browser I am used to selecting stuff with Shift+UP/DOWN(arrow) keys, and it kinda also works in TC. Problem is that it behaves differently than Explorer. It doesnt mark the file/folder, where the cursor is, but the one before (for instance I want 3 items selected, in Explorer I select first item, hold shift, and press 2 times DownArrow. Now 3 items are selected. In TC I have to press 3 times DownArrow, and the place where Cursor is, is not selected)

Any way to tweak this to behave like Explorer?

You may select first file using Space bar. Also, you may just use Insert key to select sequentially placed files.

Well executing a command 3 times to select 3 items sounds more logical to me.

I think if you decided to switch to TC, it is time to change some of your habits. TC will do the rest!

Why would this be logical? You move the cursor to an item you want to select, then select it by using the space bar or moving away while holding shift - why would you expect the place where you go next to also be selected and have to unselect it when that's not what you intend?

Possibly, because that's how it works everywhere else - including mouse selections:

Click on item/file (1)
Shift +
Click on item/file (2)

Item/File #1 is selected, everything in between #1 and #2 is selected, including Item/File #2.

Where it does work differently - would be in a text editor, press shift and move the cursor down the currentline becomes selected and the cursor moves to the next line. Yet in a Text-editor (unlike TC or file managers) there isn't the concept of auto-selected current line (if nothing else is selected).

That is the same in TC when using the mouse.

i have always used right click as select and hold of right click to bring up context menu so i stopped using shift and ctrl for selection a long time ago. i also do not use the explorer drag square selection.

the benefits of using that is that you can click with your left mouse on anything and they will not deselect your selection. you have to use space or right click on it again to un-select it.

but now that i use the shift and down arrow i see what he is saying. it is selecting the one that you leaving not the one that you are moving to. but right click selection is much faster and more effective.

Then use the Insert button or Space button with SpaceMovesDown=1 in wincmd.ini - it does the same as Shift+arrowdown, but it is more intuitive since no arrow is involved.
