Multi volume zip's to non-removable drive...

Post by *modest »

Hi all,

I'm wondering, is it possible to create a multiple parts zipfile with configurable size of the parts, without the need to put these parts on a removable drive.

I have a website that can store files up to 20 Mb. So i'd like to be able to tell TC to create zips of size 20 MB. But to create zips of a configurable size is impossible in TC (a.f.a.i.k.).

So it would be superb if this functionality was there (then i'd be superNOOB), or could be added.

Thanks all!
Happy TC-ing!!!

pack
1. Zip your files first.
2. Files/Split files
3. Upload the splitted files including the created crc-file.

unpack
1. Files/Combine Files
2. Unzip the zip archive.

Cheers for the idea....

This is a creative idea for sure! Thanks Lefteous!

But surely not all of my site's visitors have TC. So i should advice all my website visitors to buy TC.

Which is a good idea for the Ghisler Brothers, but not much of the site's visitors are able to do the combine of the split up zips.

Is there any other way for to create these multi volume zips / arj's / ACE's whatever besides TC split / combine function.
Happy TC-ing!!!

If your visitors don't use TC, they need another tool to combine/unpack. Just point your visitors to the free Combine tool.

Okay... That looks fine...

Still i remember there was a common compression tool which made it possible to create volumes of a definable size....

Most people already have or do have easy access to common compression tools, so you'll understand my preference for that...

You can use WinRAR in Total Commander. You have to define WinRAR as your RAR packer in the configuration dialog. In the pack dialog set the packer to RAR and append " -v20M" (without the quotes) to the filename.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
