Separate tree not expanding if focus on "Desktop"

Post by *DrShark »

1. Enable saparete tree (for one or two panels)
2. Go to Desktop by double click on "Desktop" item in separate tree.
Now only "Desktop" item is shown in separate tree.
3. Go to some dir in file panel, not tree, or use Ctrl+D or Alt+Dn menu to choose some dir. The directory in file panel will change, but separate tree won't expand to that dir - only "Desktop" item will be shown in it.

This is a known limitation - I had decided to keep it as a way to temporarily disable the tree without closing its window.

IMHO it's a bad designed solution because it causes a limitation. Anyway, two questions:
1. Is there a some hotkey or command to expand the tree to current dir?
2. Is it possible to solve "a temporarily disabling the tree" with a special button or a control by not closing but hiding the tree panel?
For example, in Opera browser there are a button and a special control to show/hide a side panel:

When panel is hidden, TC may not update a tree ...

1. You need to re-expand the root with "+" to make the tree work again.
2- Hmm, difficult to say, I don't want to overload the interface even more.

If I have only "Desktop" item visible in tree (as described in 1st post), I have to dblclick it and then click "+" so many times as a deep level of the dir in file panel.
I suggest to add a command to expand the tree to the current file panel dir. Then user can create a button or a hotkey for it.

Again, at the beginning it may be a command to hide-restore tree panel(s). Maybe for TC 8 some acceptable GUI solution will be found :)

You need to change directory in the other panel after re-expanding the desktop item in the tree.

I think this thread can be moved to Suggestions

And I still can't avoid a step "re-expanding the desktop". Again, re-expanding means that the path in one file panel will change to Desktop...
