F2 command menu (like in FAR manager)

Post by *krzysieks »

Hi,
I use FAR manager a lot in my work. There is something similar to TC start menu but you use F2 button then menu appears in the middle of the screen. You can use up down arrows to choose proper command or shourtcut previously defined. This is much more convinient to type F2 then "c" (for example) than break your fingers with ctrl+alt+f6

TC has special tweakable menu Start which you may configure as you wish. To enter it you may press e.g. Alt and then 'S'. Also please note that TC main menu is fully customizable - you may edit MNU files to get any menu you wish, add any commands (to start external programs from main menu you should create user-commands for them but you may start external programs via Start menu w/o any problems).

BTW you may download some external application that displays menu (e.g. TCMenu) and bind it to F2 key - so on F2 you will see your own menu (also you may add bar file used for TCMenu menu as button to your buttonbar and set 'show as menu' option - so it will be available from main buttonbar too - even more, you will have possibility to customize it via this button).

krzysieks,
You can also reassign shortcuts for any commands you need to any shortcuts you prefer using the config dialog, under Misc.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
