Grammar mistake in copy to zip progress

Open zip archive in one panel, copy some files with F5 into it from opposite.
In "To" field of copy progress dialog the extension of zip archive is shown as "zi#"

If you mean the "#" sign, it's not a mistake, TC uses that in some locations for temporary zip files.

Well, you may not call it "grammar" error, I used this term just because I meant the mistake in the word.

Now I see that while copying a file to zip, TC creates a new temp file with the same name and zi# extension.
It means that Total Commander doesn't pack files to existing zip directly but creates new one.

That's correct! The new zip is built from the old one plus the newly added files. Once the new one is verified, the old is deleted and the new one renamed to the original name. This is done to prevent data loss by a damaged half-finished zip file if packing is aborted in the middle (e.g. by a power loss, crash, whatever).
