Line number and Go to line commands in Lister

Post by *ykhabins »

How about introducing 2 new features in Lister:
  • Line Number
    Go to line (Ctrl+G)
with the option to turn it on and off for text file viewing.

I am viewning lots of text files which contain programming code.
So such features would be a very convenient addition to the Lister.

Use "search" option on the forum.
Many people already asked for this option but Christian suggested using plugins for it.

Try hpg_ed - there is line numbering and you can define your own shortcut eg. Ctrl-G) for "Go to line".

¤ Does that pluggin work too with *.RTF files? Like you know certainly, the go to % of the file (counter) never worked at this...
:( Another lacuna is that pics arn't displayed (Christian G. doesn't want for call the Win OLE functions...) I know, it's another subjet, but if you'ld have an info, thank you!
:) Friendly regards,
Claude

As I know it doesn't :-(

Office.wlx plugin supports picture showing and formating in .rtf (and not only) files. Unfortunately it has no line numbering. :-(

There is also ieview.wlx plugin - it supports both picture showing and line numbering (with "Go to line" option and shortcut). It supports many formats via MS WebBrowser control so it it automatically supports all formats which IE supports.

:D Hi!
Thank you for the infos! Hard to get both features together...
I'll test these addons a bit later, isn't very hurry...
:mrgreen: My problem is when updating some *.rtf files as *.hlp sources;
it's handy to use Lister for a quick control; some files have pics, others have not...

DJK,

Thanks a lot for bringing to my attention hpg_ed plugin.

It has line numbering turned on by default.
I defined a shortcut (CTRL+G) for Jump to line.
It works like a charm for me.

Thanks again.
