Keyboard navigation disabled on "no search result"

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Keyboard navigation disabled on "no search result"

Post by *lchiocca »

Hi,

I've found a interesting bug in the lastest version (7.55 32bit 17.6.2010). Here's how to reproduce:
* open total commander ;)
* use the internal viewer to open any text file
* search for an string that will not be found
* A dialog tells you that the string was not found. DO NOT CLOSE IT!!!
* Go back to the main TC view and try pressing TAB to switch "panels" - it doesn't work
* Open another internal viewer on any other file and try pressing ESC to close the viewer - that also doesn't work

Basically, as long as the "Not found" dialog is there, you cannot really use the keyboard anymore.

Cheers

Hello lchiocca,
Yes, well, that is well-known currently unavoidable behavior. You may find some older reports if you search the forum.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Oops... sorry. I only search the "TC7.55 final bug reports" for that issue. Didn't search beyond that, because I never noticed it in previous versions.

The only way to avoid it is to use Lister as a standalone program (separate process). You can do this by configuring it in Configuration - Options - Viewer/Editor. The command would be
c:\totalcmd\totalcmd.exe /S=L "%1"
