No more able to browse gz files - Error in packed file ...
In the past i was able to browse the gz files for their content. Theese files are packed in rpms from SUSE SLES 11. The corresponding rpms from SUSE SLES 9 do still work. Are there some changes in the packaging of theese rpms in newer versions of SLES which are not yet honored by TC? I extracted the gz files from the rpm and tried to browse it directly - same result. Sometimes there are bz2 files in the rpms. Theese are working.

Maybe they are incorrectly named files? I have seen fake gz files which were actually in 7zip format, so you may try with the 7zip plugin instead.

Acutely no the 7zip plugin doesn't support lzma compressed files (streams).
newer RPM's from SUSE and Mandriva are lzma compressed, and not only rpm's but some of mandriva'a man pages are lzma compressed.
I've found that the RPM plugin from ghisler com doesn't like lzma, but a modified version can be found on doublecmd at source fordge
this TC clone comes with a few wcx and wdx plugins that can't be found anywhere else.
to unpack lzma compressed RPM's you'll need the lzma.wcx and RPM.wcx from doublecmd. Also the content RPM.wdx plugin doesn't like lzma so you'ld need to replace that one too.
ps. I've tried to use the original RPM.wcx with multiarc and lzma.exe from 7-zip and I couldn't get it to work. also to get the original rpm and the lzma wcx from doublecmd but with no success.
any way I'm not sure about the license on the rpm.wcx and if it could it would be nice to have it updated.
ps. ps. as lzma is now under a general public license could we have an built in lzma packing/unpacking like the gzip.

Acutely lzma files (with *.lzma suffix) aren't 7-zip files they don't have the !7z header they are more like bzip or gzip files in the seance that they are compressed files but aren't archives, and although the 7-zip plugin supports lzma compression in 7-zip files it doesn't support lzma files.
I hope the above makes seance.

here's a link to the modified dll's: RPM.wcx, LZMA.wcx and wdx_RPM.wdx. I've included only the dll's and the appropriate licenses.

the rar is about 200k
the source can be found on sf.net
and a direct link to an lzma compressed RPM about 3k

I see - so they were not really gzip files, they were really .lzma files renamed to .gz by the RPM plugin...
