In one pane of TC, I have two tabs, one with a local directory, and one with an FTP connection (drive "0") to an ALPHA machine with OpenVMS 6.2. When I switch to the local tab, and then to the FTP/ALPHA tab, then it automatically reconnects, opening a new FTP connection (drive "1"). If I cancel the password prompt, it cancels the drive 1 and displays a local directory again in that tab. However, it is possible to switch the tab to drive 0 the way one would normally switch to an FTP drive. Note that the FTP session on drive 0 did not expire.
I observe this bug only for an FTP connection to my ALPHA machine. When I have an FTP connection to my HP/UX unix station, then switching between tabs behaves as is to be expected.
There was a similar post about this on December 4, but that spoke about reconnecting to a lost connection (without specifying where the person connected to). It seems to be a bit more general than that, but dependant somehow on the machine on the other end.
Bug: Activating TAB with FTP to ALPHA always connects again
