folders & extensions

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

folders & extensions

Post by *prami »

Hi

I put it here because it is still a bug in this version, but also in older ones ;-)

If I have a folder with an extension (e.g. ".done" or ".todo"), then this extension is not shown in the extension column.

If I create a customer column wit tc[ext], it works well.

Thx

Hello prami,
Well, this is by design.

I agree with Hacker: this is how the OS handles it too.

Just BTW, I am not saying for it to be one way or another, just noting that this was a design decision for it to be like this.

Ok.

But if per design, why is the tc[ext] working ?
And if it is planned also like that, why is it then not possible in the Custom mode to "replace" the defulat "ext" by the "tc[ext]" ...

Something strange ...

JFI: I'm not claiming, just noticed it, because I had to take over a project.
And, I'm using license TC since version 3 and I would miss it if it would no longer exists ......

I think tc.ext just cuts name part after last dot and it doesn't look onto object type (just like CMD does for %~x1).

It would be better for you to ask for unlocking default Ext column - it is very easy to do :) and you'll replace it with your tc.ext then.

That would require unlocking the Name and Ext column, as the name would change as well as the Ext in this case.

Last I inquired about something similiar -- to be able to replace both fields with a new CustomColumn group, Ghisler advised they are required internally for efficient sorting.

In such case TC should at least overlap theese columns if their length is almost 0 (currently text is displayed above another text so both are unreadable).

That's another alternative......

Whatever possibilities I have today, it's not properly working :(
