How to avoid a warning, that a file name may be too long?

Post by *kji »

Hello everybody,
I am a little bit annoyed by a message displayed by TC, when copying files and the resulting destination path+filename is longer than, I think 259 characters or so.

Is there a way to tell TC to not display this message anymore?
I often copy huge amounts of data over nicht and this message stops this copy process half way and as a result the next morning the copy process has not finished.

Any hint would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Klaus

This was discussed many times:) you can tweak wincmd.ini manually:
TOTALCMD.chm section 4.b wrote:[Configuration]
LongNameCopy=0
During file operations, warn if target name is longer than 259 characters:
0=always
1=never

Great, thanks. Seems that my search expressions when looking for a possible existing answer were not very good.
Sorry about that and many thanks for this quick reply.
