sorting of directories (symlinks..)

Post by *hef` »

hi
maybe some of you know ftp scripts available for some ftpds that allow to create symlinks, especialy for music directories,
it creates symlinks like,
sorted by group
sorted by genre
sorted by year
...
is anything like that there or can be achieved in some other way? maybe with some regexp filter?
except for genre sorting that would have to need to read id3 first but i can do without it

thx

Try these plugins:

WDXTagLib
anytag
AudioInfo
MP3Info
Media

Create custom columns retrieving multimedia info from your files, and them sort files by these columns.

If so, what do you mean by sorting? As to me, I think that when I press the column header, the file list is SORTED BY the corresponding column (size, extension, artist, album, or whatever). What exactly is your goal?

its easy..

lets say you have directory full of albums (many dirs) which are all in this format: Artist_Name-Album_Title-Year-Group_name

and now i want to have also this other 'directories' (symlinks) in there like,
_sorted.by.artist
_sorted.by.year
_sorted.by.group

that would lead to 'subdirectory' which content matches a category
this might be doable without reading id3 informations because of unificated directory structure, but preferably, getting info from id3 is better option so _sorted.by.genre is possible too
though it still need to be able sort by.group somehow (not included in id3)

Now I see. As I've said, custom columns serve the goal you descride. There are some other plugins that could be useful:
Group
FileX
global_diz
