Bug "Seperate Tree View" not updating

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Bug "Seperate Tree View" not updating

Post by *DarkRuleR »

Hi,

When I delete a directory the directory is still visible in the "Seperate Tree View".

I could not replicate this bug at this time.
But I made a screenshot.

How did you delete it? Maybe using Explorer delete method? If you find out how to reproduce this problem, please let me know!

I remembered that I did not delete the directory from within TC.
Forgot to mention this.

So when you delete a directory outside of TC with for example Explorer or FlashFXP (both tested).
The main window will refresh but the Seperate Tree View not.

Confirmed.

The same situation when you create catalog outside TC - it also wouldn't appear in tree panel.
Tested it on two different computers.

Sorry, it's simply not feasible to re-read the entire tree when you switch from other programs to TC. You will have to live with that.

I can reproduce the behavior described by DarkRuleR when I select the "Explorer delete method" on Windows 7 (Ultimate 32 bits) every time I delete a directory. The entry in the tree panel is only removed when I click on "Reread source".

Using the TC delete method works fine, but it is way too slow when deleting large amounts of data.

Any suggestions or workarounds?

Thanks in advance.

If you use Windows Vista or 7, you should use the VistaDelete method instead - it's an internal method:

Wincmd.ini
[Configuration]
VistaDelete=1

You also need to turn off the Explorer method, because TC isn't notified by it which directories are really removed.
