is there a way to add a hotlist button?

What do you mean by hotlist? Is it a list of favourite directories? If yes, try to copy the following:

to the clipboard, then point any free space on a bar, right-click, and then Paste.
The same menu can be invoked by Ctrl+D (if not redefined), and, finally, by pressing the asterisk button to the right of the panel header (blue line with the current path).
