On TC-website there is a link to software "XSubst"
http://ghisler.com/dtools.htm ....->
http://www.gateway-to-hell.com/cgi-bin/showpic.pl?album=files/screenshots/xsubst_eng
(Homepage in German, but Screenshots also in English and Software also in English and French)
And here is a similar thing: Visual Subst
http://www.ntwind.com/software/utilities/visual-subst.html
Is there a "real difference"? Who compared it? Which is the better one?

Re: "XSubst" versus "Visual Subst"
Personally i use batch files that set and unset "subst-ed", network drives, ... links with this i can define profiles (by project/task).Peter wrote:On TC-website there is a link to software "XSubst"

Ive done in the past some try to both :
- Visual subst is subst with nice gui (Good for simple stuff)
- XSubst is more accomplished an well maintained. Gui is more synthetic and have tons of features. (This is my first choice over both)

vSubst is just a simple gui. Could do all it does with a TC Button that calls subst.exe.
xSubst looks to be useful if you do a lot of subst'ing.
These days, most of my drives aren't even assigned a letter. I use mountvol.exe to mount a harddrive (with it's volumeName) to a folder. Never really had the need to subst much - I generally rather a junction or mountPoint (or both).

*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.
