Custom columns and invisible wall

Post by *Damel »

Hi Christian,
when some extension is longer than the Ext column width, then it free flow to the Size column. See left panel:

But in Custom columns is here some invisible wall, which cutoff the long extensions. See right panel:

Maybe you want this behaviour for some reasons, but would be nice if you add new column content "separator" or "cutter" (with width=0) or option "Dock content in column". Or you can just remove this behaviour. Free flow to the free space in next column is IMHO better.
The best solution:
1. format C:
2. install TotalCmd
3. install Windows (optionally)

Do you really have many files with such "longlonglong" extension?
If it will be "free flow" to the size column, it will overlap the size digits.
I suppose these files sometimes can be bigger than 1 byte ;)

Hopefully, I do not see such behavior. How to turn it on?

This is NOT a bug, it's a feature, so you can see as much as possible of such a long extension! If you don't like it, you can use a custom columns view, it limits the field to its column.

No. But some files has and I can this long extensions normally see in Full view, becouse they take space in Size column. This is nice feature. Problem is only in Custom columns. If I make my own custom columns, then this files has his long extensions cutoff. See right panel:

Not true. It will not overlap the size digits. See:

True. I like this feature. I don't like "cutoff feature" in Custom columns.

- I want use my own custom columns
- I want see long extensions
- but concurrently I don't want have big width of Ext column with big waste space

This is unsolvable now :)
