I suggest a little command to make currently opened buttonbar as default bar (i.e. to put its path to INI).
Currently we need to open buttonbar config, choose it manually and wait for TC question message to confirm operation.
'Make current bar as default' user command

Hello !
• I proposed something similar ages ago, please use the Search…
• Unfortunately, this simple idea (INI options to keep the last used bar as new default at next start up) wasn't understood…:(

Thanks for the answer. I can't remember any similar topic for last few years so I think it was forgotten even if it was discussed in the past. And, I suggest not to save last used bar, I just suggest a function to save opened bar (but maybe your option might be useful for someone too).
Just now I've tried to search for old topics. I've used keywords default bar and opened every English topic with bar word in its name. I found only one similar topic (this) but its author have suggested a checkbox in buttonbar editor to make bar as default bar (or a user command at least, you're right) - but it was three years ago.

I wonder if it wouldn't be more useful to have a generic UPDATEINI command, that would allow you to change most any ini setting that your wanted. And perhaps an UPDATEGUI command for the buttonbar and main menu.
e.g.
UPDATEGUI menu %ProgramFiles%\TotalCMD\GUI\menu\menu1.mnu
UPDATEGUI bar %ProgramFiles%\TotalCMD\GUI\bar\toolbar1.bar
Would have the effect of changing the current menu or buttonbar to the listed item, and saving the change to wincmd.ini
or the UPDATEINI cmd:
UPDATEINI OverrideDPI=120
Would write the setting to the wincmd.ini as if you manually opened the file in an editor.

*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

• Yes, THIS MESSAGE (and following…) is the one I thought to.
- And it's an almost four years old one now
