Assume I'm looking for a file readme74.txt.
If I use only "read" as search string, I find lots of files, including the above.
However, if I use "read | windows\", I will not find any files. If I use "readme74.txt | windows\", I will find the file.
Is this a bug or is the help file inaccurate ("When the search string contains a dot, Total Commander will look for the exact name match.")? Maybe this sentence should include wildcard / backslash etc.
At any rate, this makes the whole include / exclude feature much less useful. If this can be fixed to not require exact filenames, it should also be made sure that folder names including dots (e.g. "$RECYCLE.BIN") do not, again, require an exact filename for the search.
Thanks.

Try to search for "read* | windows\"
Or "*read* | windows\" if you are not sure your files starts with "read".
But I agree - it is inconsistant that you have to use a wildcard just becouse you use an excusion.
