32-bit Install renames tc2usb v0.92 beta files as TC8Beta

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

32-bit Install renames tc2usb v0.92 beta files as TC8Beta

Post by *Unhjem »

I had tc2usb v0.92 beta with TC 7.56a. When I installed TC8Beta1 in the same directory it renamed the tc2usb v0.92 beta files (.exe and .txt) as Total Commander 2 Usb 0.93 Beta. At the same time TOTALCMD.EXE was changed to TC8Beta1.

Hello, Unhjem.

So far I cannot confirm and reproduce your problem report:

T.C. 7.56 had been installed in the folder d:\utils\totalcmd by the T.C. 7.56a installer.
The new installation package tc80x32beta1.exe was launched and told to update the existing installation.
T.C. 8.0 beta1 was installed as expected. No files were renamed in any strange way.
This is true for the file tc2usb.exe which had been added to the T.C. 7.56a installation manually and before upgrading to T.C. 8.0 beta1.

In short words:

Updating T.C. 7.56a to v8.0 beta1 with help of the T.C. installer worked as expected.

You may have to explain in more detail
+ what the starting situation was
+ which steps exactly you performed

Cheers,
Karl

Karl,
The only difference from what you did is that I have Windows XP Home Edition, version 2002, SP3. If you could not reproduce the problem I must have done something wrong without realizing it.

Strange, the installer does not rename any files.
