Directorytree and black background

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Directorytree and black background

Post by *Herr Mann »

First, I like the new Arrows. The '>' looks more modern then the old '+'
But on an black background Arrows disappear almost.

AFAIK those symbols come from currently selected Windows theme, except when Classic is selected, in that case the traditional pluses are drawn by TC itself. If you set default window background to black system-wide, you'll get exactly same bad result in every treeview that respects system color settings. It might not be easy to find one, because Aero has hardcoded colors for quite a lot of interface elements.

TC would have to provide option for users to specify custom symbols.

Agree. :)

Even on light backgrounds the triangles are really tiny. In particular the little triangles in front of collapsed objects are hard to see.

Here is a sample screenshot taken on
+ Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 32-bit
+ Total Commander 8.0 beta1, 32-bit
+ Aero Theme selected

Yes, they come from the theme. Unfortunately the color cannot be controlled. :(
