Font size issues in copy, move and compression dialogs

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Font size issues in copy, move and compression dialogs

Post by *Fossi »

Hello,

I´m using not the standard font and fontsize of the TC.

If you use e. g. the font Segoe UI with the fontsize 11 some characters of the text in the progessbars are cut.

Screenshots here:

This issue is only in the 64-Bit Version of TC.

Hope this helps. :O)

p.s. Thanks for the great work on TCMD 8.

The thing is that buttons aren't automatically resized to fit text. If author would use WPF, he'd get this behavior for free. The author creates buttons to fit predefined size font. If you get it larger, you're out of luck.

OMG, WPF and .NET are things that will NEVER be in TC.

So, how author's gonna solve this problem?
P.S. What is "OMG"?

Why shouldn't he be able to? Is WPF some God's piece of software given from above? It was written by ordinary people. If they were able to make dialogs stretch, what will prevent Ghisler from doing the same?

So, is it cool that people pay for program which doesn't fit text on its buttons? Awesome GUI: https://my.syncplicity.com/share/a1onrsndto/Awesome_TC_GUI.png

Hm… I cannot see any message where anybody said it was cool. Something wrong with my eyes?

It is a problem, nobody argues about it. But what in the world has WPF to do with it? Do you think that WPF is the only cure in the Universe for this problem? Let me disappoint you: you are wrong.

Besides, even if Ghisler will not fix this particular problem, I personally would agree to pay this price for difference between the huge, obese, sluggish WPF and fast, lightweight native interface.

1. Where do I say that people say it's cool?
2. Where do I claim that WPF is the only cure?
3. Gimme comparison. Did you try to write same app in WPF? What do you base your opinion?

I just tried to say that author doesn't care this ugly text on buttons.

Then what were you talking about? Why these words about WPF? Why asking whether that was cool?
Sektor wrote:Gimme comparison. Did you try to write same app in WPF? What do you base your opinion?
Why should I waste my time? I used WPF applications, and all they had slower interface than native one, and all they loaded much slower because Windows had to load all these huge libraries of .NET and WPF. TC is famous for its high perfromance, while WPF is notorious for exactly the opposite. Porting TC to WPF would mean killing TC and creating a new, different application that will not suit the needs of many TC users.

Oh, now I know that telepathy does exist! Author did not say anything yet and you already know whether he cares or not…
