During the setup the default installation directory is: C:\Program Files (x86)\totalcmd
And since it's 64 bit, should it be C:\Program Files\totalcmd instead?

The default is c:\totalcmd. You installed the previous version into Program Files (x86) — that's why the installer suggests you this dir.

Hello, Tridy.
The same bug report was posted after beta1 had been released. I am just too lazy to look up the thread (Flint did that for me.
). So here is the essence of Christian's answer as I remember it:
If either of the two keys is found by the T.C. installer, HKCU\Software\Ghisler\Total Commander\Installdir or HKLM\Software\Ghisler\Total Commander\Installdir, then the installer will default to suggesting this folder as the programme folder for both versions, 32-bit and 64-bit.
It is not mandatory to put 32-bit programmes in C:\Program Files (x86) and 64-bit programmes in C:\Program Files. This is just the way Microsoft suggests to do it. Yet, 32-bit programmes will work fine if installed in C:\Program Files and 64-bit programmes will work fine if installed in C:\Program Files (x86).
In short words: the reported bug is not a bug and won't be fixed.
Cheers,
Karl
