me too, but i am on a laptop and moving files via dragndrop when NC-behavior is enabled (RMB=select) you have to click both Mbuttons to get the move [-]. and moving is 99% of what i do vs copying. so not really easy on a notebook.
Then just press Shift, before releasing the notebook left-click.

I can't see this "option" being implemented. Far more useful requests aren't.
And that pop-up you see is the normal copy dialog that you get from F5, and cm_copy is the same.

Anyone that is so annoyed by a single dialog would of used an external program by now --- be it batch, binary, script (AHK) or others --- or pressed shift during drag and drop.

no,i dont want to have to use the keyboard all the time.

i am constantly moving files over a day, so whats this single dailog, yeah right x100. 100 times pushing ok. are you serious?
and an external program, script is always slowing down.
but thats not the point. i can use also scripts with the explorer.
its an 0 or 1 option for christs sake. like i said before TC is the ONLY filemanager with this behavior. a file manager should make things faster, shouldnt it? so how does an extra dialog fit in this?

ps.thats also the reason why i used speedcommander the last 2 years, but obviously tc has enough customers.

Command: "%ProgramFiles%\AutohotKey\AutoHotkey.exe" "%ProgramFiles%\AutohotKey\Scripts\TC_ClickMoveDialog.ahk"

Code: Select all

#NoEnv
PostMessage, 0x433, 1005, 0x0,, A ; cm_Move
WinWaitActive, ahk_class TInpComboDlg, F2 &Queue
Send, {Enter}
Option 2: Press Shift before releasing Left Click.
Option 3: Use a MOUSE and press RightClick.
Option 4: Use an external copy program.
Option 5: Use a batch script, or other e.g. AHK, PowerPro.

Options 4 and 5 will be as fast or FASTER than TC's internal copy.
The only negative is if you use descript.ion files.

Option 4 Examples:
TeraCopy, CopyHandler, KillCopy

i am not using ahk and i dont want to install a complete new program just for a tiny option, that should be there in the first place.
also i am using speedcommander on a stick on various computers, how would that work then with tc?

thanks, but, sry no. it simply should be implemented finally.
users are asking for this since years. until then me and my colleagues, who are in need of a fast filemanager that doesnt treat users like noobs, will not use tc.

we need a professional tool that should be configurable for our working needs and not making us slower.

there are filemanagers that do the job as its supposed to be.

ps. cant believe you are suggesting another filecopy program to use with a filemanager...

I totally agree with schmock. The solution is not to add scripts and other hacks to get around the source of the problem. One thing that people have to realize is that not everyone is a developer/programmer/script writer. TC as a mature app should give the option to people to use defaults. If all people care about is copying the file without setting permissions and what not, then so be it.

I have the same issue with adding a cursor to the panel when the TC is inactive. People suggested that "I don't really need the feature". That's the problem here, people making assumptions for other people.

@BillieBub,
In the last 5+ years we haven't been able to get a native Delete (non-explorer) that respects the Recycle Bin setting of Ask/DoNOT Ask Permission (or a TC option for such). You will *ALWAYS* be nagged about whether you actually want to delete the files: for me the answer is ALWAYS Yes --- that's why I pressed delete in the first place.

The nag screens are even worse if you use TC to edit files thru FTP.

Or try updating a Custom Search, theres at least 5+ pop-ups you have to confirm if the Search already exists.

My longstanding wish is for TC to improve the user experience, thus far I haven't seen that come to fruition.

I have to say, the inability to be remove these stupid nag screens for the most basic of instructions namely copy and move, is for me, the most annoying part of this software.

Other contributors are quite correct that you should not have to use scripts to create this simple instruction and certainly not have to install another program because of a simple omission from total commander.

Options exist to automatically overwrite existing/hidden/system files, something which I actually do not want, but not for the basic command!

Not using TC is bliss.
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

Thus,
If ignorance is bliss, and
Ignorance is not using TC,
therefore:

Not using TC, is bliss.
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.
