Hello, xnessuno.

Can you bothered, please, to add to your report the following relevant details:
  • Which Windows version exactly do you use, in particular is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
  • Which Total Commander version exactly is your report about? v8.0 beta1 32-bit or v8.0 beta1 64-bit?
  • On your system T.C. does not display any icons at all left of the filenames and foldernames inside the filepanels? Or does it display just two types of icons, one for folders and a little white square icon for all files?
In case the latter is true, then inside T.C. go to Options => Configuration => Icons and make sure that either the option
+ (*)All associated + EXE/LNK (slow) or the option
+ (*)All associated
has been selected.

Kind regards,
Karl

Hi!
-I use Windows XP Home edition (localized italian) with service pack 3 and all update. (32 bit).
-My report is relating to "Total Commandetr v8.0 beta1 32-bit".
-My system T.C. does not display only the icons at the left of the filenames with type .ico (all the other filetypes are displayed correctly). In the old TC the icons were a preview of file .ico
-I have selected: (*)All associated + EXE/LNK (slow) (with icon size 17x17), but I have tested also (*)All associated option.

Hello, xnessuno.

Thank you very much for explaining in such a detailled fashion. :)

Argh, it should have occurred to me to take your phrase "file .ico" literally. I thought the missing icons affected all file types. It affects exactly .ico files. I'm pretty sure there were no .ico files in the folders which I inspected. So I'll return to the testing machine and watch out for .ico files ...

[Update 1]
Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 32-bit
Total Commander 8.0 beta1, 32-bit
T.C. displays the icon-sized previews in front of the filenames *.ico.

[Update 2]
Windows Server 2008 R2, 64-bit
Total Commander 8.0 beta1, 32-bit
Total Commander 8.0 beta1, 64-bit
T.C. displays the icon-sized previews in front of the filenames *.ico.

[Update 3]
Windows 2003 SP2 Std., 64-bit
Total Commander 8.0 beta1, 32-bit
Total Commander 8.0 beta1, 64-bit
T.C. displays the icon-sized previews in front of the filenames *.ico.

Cheers,
Karl

:) Hello Peter !
On my Win XP SP3 32bit installation of TC 8.0 b1 all icons for icon files are shown as in previous versions of TC.
• Same here 8) BTW, don't you hold an appropriate .reg file to fix that issue, IIRC ? 8) Here, I've a file :
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico]
@="icofile"
"PerceivedType"="image"
"Content Type"="image/x-icon"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico\PersistentHandler]
@="{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico\shellex]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico\shellex\{BB2E617C-0920-11D1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico\UndoClass]
@="icofile"
but don't remember if it's the right one (an also a couple of similar ones…)

Could you try this with beta 2, please? It may again be a problem with exceptions.

Can anyone still reproduce this problem? If not, I will move this thread to fixed bugs.
