[8.0ß9-x64] creates a logfile named totalcmd.655350000.log

Post by *HolgerK »

My log file options are:

Code: Select all

LogFile=%TEMP%\totalcmd\totalcmd.log
LogOptions=7263
LogRotateLimit=-1
LogKeepCount=7
Prerequisite "%TEMP%\totalcmd\totalcmd.log" exists (actual date) and no other logfile is placed inside this folder .

Starting TC8-x64 renames the existing "totalcmd.log" to "totalcmd.655350000.log" and creates a new logfile "totalcmd.log" with one single line "program start .."

Starting TC8-x86 simply adds the " program start..." line to the existing "totalcmd.log" logfile.

(Windows 7 x64 Ultimate Sp1 Eng / %Temp% = "T:\Temp")

Regards
Holger

Confirmed.

It doesn't seem to matter where the logfile is placed - I used LogFile=%TEMP%\totalcmd.log where %TEMP% = F:\TEMP

Once the file totalcmd.655350000.log is created, TC continues to write to totalcmd.log after each new start of TC - no more writes to totalcmd.655350000.log as long as it exists when starting TC.

I couldn't reproduce it so far - TC just didn't rotate log files at all. I found the reason for that now, maybe it's the same problem causing your problem (bug in Lazarus function val() ).

Both (655350000.log and rotate log function) are fixed in TC8.0ß10 x64.

Thanks
