Synchronize directories

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Synchronize directories

Post by *ff.ol »

There is a little difference between the version 7.x and 8: I often need to mark all found files in the result area and give them the same action. In version 7.x it was not neccessary to click into the result area before using <Ctrl>-<A->, in all 8-betas I have to click into the area to give the focus. It's only a blemish, but you have to relearn the process.

I cannot confirm either - just checked with TC 8.0b9 x64 under Win 7, and TC 8.0b9 32bit under both Win 7 x64 and Win XP 32bit.

I cannot confirm that either - this was the case already in TC 7.56a. Here is what I tried (with 7.56a):
1. Commands - Synchronize dirs
2. Compare
3. Press Ctrl+A -> all files are selected

Second test:
1. Commands - Synchronize dirs
2. Compare
3. Click on "Ignore date"
4. Press Ctrl+A -> nothing is selected
5. Click on the left path field
6. Press Ctrl+A -> The path name is selected

Hello,
I just check it out once more and it's really a difference between 8ß11 under WinXP 32 and under Win7 64, also between 7.56a and all 8 betas. On my PC (both OS are bootable) I don't need to click into the result area under WinXP before using Ctrl-A, but under Win7 it's necessary. With 7.56a it is not necessary under both OS.
My standard search-configuration is: Asymmetric (left to right) and Subdirs are checked, under Show green, red and blue are active, duplicates and singles too. This is identical under XP and Win7.

I forgot to mention, that I'm using TC 8ß11 64bit under Win7 64bit. Perhaps it is important.

2ff.ol: Do you have an additional "mouse driver" extension installed on the Win7 machine?

This may change the focus to object the mouse pointer is located.

I still (TC 8.0b11 x64 under Win 7 x64 SP1) cannot confirm this observation.

Tested both with and without katMouse running. I am using Windows standard HID-compatible mouse driver - no third party mouse drivers.

That could indeed be - do you use something like XMouse?

Hello,
I use a Logitech mouse with the appropriate Setpoint driver. There is no option that could be responsible. But I can try it out by temporarily deinstalling this driver. I will report the result.

Hello,
as I announced I deinstalled the Logitech Setpoint driver and first I thought that this was the reason, but soon I noticed that it was not. Then I thought that I found the reason in the situation if there is a file in the root of the drive that causes the focus not to be set into the result area (rather only if the first line there is a folder), but the second or third attempt showed that this was wrong too.
I give up now and because it's only a very little problem it seems to be a waste of time to keep yourself busy with this.
Best regards
Gerhard
