ACE32.EXE - wrong parameter specified!

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

ACE32.EXE - wrong parameter specified!

Post by *mame »

I was using ACE32.EXE v2.04. No problem for TC/32. But ACE32.EXE crashes on Windows 7 64-bit.

So I upgraded to last version available: v2.6. Now it works on both 32/64 bit Windows. But TC gives a new problem:

"ace - wrong parameter specified!"

Can't exactly see what is wrong; the window closes quickly. Maybe I'll figure out later.

Affected both 32/64 bit, same symptom. Tested 7.56a, same result, error msg/archive not created.

-----

Figured out the problem, parameter used by TC:
ace32.exe a -f C:\Temp\ace.ace @C:\Temp\CMD324.tmp

Which is ok with v2.04, but v2.6 gives:
"Working: Creating listfile. Please wait."
Then nothing happened. (It says 'creating' while it should 'read' the list)

P/S: I'm using unregistered ACE. Is the registered version behaves differently?
I'm no ACE expert. Perhaps the particular version uses different parameter for filelist?
BTW the manual ACE.TXT was kind of short, didn't find the instructions, neither ace32 -? does ...

EDIT:
Sorry just found out it's been discussed before:
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=23972
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8809

Now this rises another issue that ace32.exe can no longer be used with TC 64-bit. Same issue as UC.EXE suggested by petermad:
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=32786

EDIT 2:
Found the 'solution' in German board:
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=10004

Sigh!

v.2.04 doesn't crash here on my win 7 x64, but I have another issue with ace archives: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=236684

Yes, use winace.exe. I will change the default ACE packer to that.
