8.0ß11 - bug related to keyboard handling

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

8.0ß11 - bug related to keyboard handling

Post by *CatalinC »

This bug is not visible in 8.0ß9 or 8.0ß10 !

Certain keys (which are defined and used as global hotkeys by other programs) are now being (wrongfully) intercepted by 8.0ß11 (tested currently only on the 32bit version).

For instance on my Dell laptop (US keyboard and WinXP US with all service packs) the combinations [Fn+PgUp] and [Fn+PgDn] (where Fn is the special key often present in notebooks) are normally volume-up and volume-down (and go to a Dell utility program) - however from 8.0ß11 [Fn+PgUp] seems to be doing the same as [Insert] and [Fn+PgDn] does not seem to be doing anything but still does not reach the Dell utility to act on the volume!

Let me know if you want me to test with the 64bit versions or if you want to know the virtual code for that special Fn key!

I'm currently testing whether TC could be controlled with a Windows Media Center remote control.

Currently the keys are as follows:
Cursor buttons = Normal up/down/left/right
OK = ENTER
<- = Backspace
i = directory hotlist
>| = Tab to other panel
|< = Ctrl+Tab (next Tab)
Play/Pause = Comand menu
Stop = ESC,
+ Select file
- Disabled

This is all experimental and will probably be removed again.

I wonder if there is a specific program or driver running when the hardware is installed - so that part could only be active when that would be a remote possibility :P

No, not to my knowledge. But it's disabled by default now anyway.
