TC8b12 64-bit only: no hotkey to feed to listbox

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC8b12 64-bit only: no hotkey to feed to listbox

Post by *chrislaarman »

TC8b12 64-bit only (likely not present in earlier betas):

After selecting files using Alt-F7, the Alt-L shortcut to feed them to the listbox doesn't work.

Cannot confirm. Works fine here when English interface is used. (Win7 x64 SP1)
Flint's Homepage: Full TC Russification Package, VirtualDisk, NTFS Links, NoClose Replacer, and other stuff!

Using TC 11.03 / Win10 x64

Works for me too.
Note that Feed To Listbox does not work for files found inside archives (this button is disabled (grey) in this case). It's TC limitation.

Cannot reproduce either. Maybe it's as Valentino describes - is the button disabled?

It's even stranger, but more specific.

I select files using Alt-F7.
I use hotkey Alt-L.
- Nothing happens.
I press Esc.
- The dialog screen disappears.
I use Alt-F7, leaving the "Search for" field untouched.
- The files found are still shown.
I press Alt-L.
- THE FILES ARE FED TO A LISTBOX.

Once I've done something else, like writing this, the above starts again.

It's not a matter of a button being greyed-out.

On second view, it rather is the "Go to file" button that is blue and seems to block all keyboard shortcuts.

TC8b12 64-bit only (on Windows 7 64-bit up to date).

I select files using Alt-F7.
What do you mean with that? You cannot select multiple files in Alt-F7.

Another guess: maybe you had keyboard switched to non-English layout when you opened Find Files dialog (Alt+F7) for the first time? Note the indicator on task bar. Maybe some keyboard switcher "helps" you?

@ ghisler:

You are obviously right in stating that Alt-F7 /finds/ files rather than /selects/ them.

I do however hope, that you can accept the finding of files as a first step in a selection process that ends with these files ready for being acted upon in the listbox.

@ Valentino:

No, it is definitely not a keyboard matter.

I have only one keyboard definition installed (US International).

I can still reproduce the problem in 64-bit, and at the same time have no problem doing the same in 32-bit.

Moreover, the problem is almost certain to have started in beta 12.

(I perform these operations very often, and I default to using 64-bit. This Alt-F7..Listbox thing is a great power of TC.)
