[TC 8.0 & 7.56a] F3 and F4 doesn't work with external ac

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC 8.0 & 7.56a] F3 and F4 doesn't work with external ac

Post by *petermad »

I am reporting this separately, since it got mixed up with another report < http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=32820 >

This applies to TC 8.0 64bit and 32bit, 7.56a and probably even earlier versions.

If I configure TC to use external ace32.exe v. 2.04 for unpacking ace archives, then using F3 or F4 on files inside the ace archive doesn't work.

The temporary file does NOT get unpacked to %TEMP%\_tc, hence Lister or the editor configured for F4 cannot find the file.

In stead the file gets extracted to the directory that happens to be open in the opposite panel of TC. In case that directory doesn't allow writing due to for example missing permissions, the file is in stead extracted to the current directory of the ace file.

So if %TEMP%\_tc happens to be opened in the opposite file panel, F3 and F4 will seem to work, otherwies not.

Sorry, this is a bug in newer ace32 versions. There us nothing I can do about it. Just use winace.exe, it works for packing and unpacking.

I don't know what you consider a newer versions of ace32.exe

I haven't tried v 2.60.

If you read my report, it is about v 2.04 NOT v. 2.60 - and it also applies to earlier versions of TC and under Win XP 32 bit using both ace.exe and ace32.exe!

The report also applies to ace.exe v. 2.02 and ace32.exe v. 2.02 - this version is from 2001 - you can hardly call that new!

The report does NOT apply to ace.exe v. 1.2b and ace32.exe v. 1.2b - in this version F3 and F4 works OK :-)

Well, I'm sending the parameters to ace exactly as documented, but it only works with winace.exe and older ace versions. No idea why. I will gladly change it if you can find a parameter set which does work.

Could you give me the parameter set you currently use in TC ?
