Renaming files (F6) not possible at first try

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Renaming files (F6) not possible at first try

Post by *lefreak »

Hello, I cannot rename a file via F6 often, althoug the file is not in use. When I accept the window dialog that opens next (see second image below), it works without any problem

It happens since TC8b9 I think

The file can be in use by shell extension (when fetching overlay icons) or by antivirus monitor. You can try Process Monitor to see what happens when you try to rename the file, it will tell whether the file is really locked by something or not.

Have you tried pressing SHIFT+F6 wich is the default shortcut for renaming as F6 is for moving?

Actually I redefined the shortcut in the configuration, it was an error in my first post, here you can see my configuration:
Shift + F6 = F2

So what I do is pressing F2 to rename files. With TC7.56 I never had this problem, although I haven't installed anything new since I switched to TC8Beta

The only way that I have seen this bug is by pasting a name that I copied into the clipboard, i. e. I didn't type the new name, but pasted it via CTRL + V. But I still emphasize that it never happened with TC7.56
