[TC 8.0ß17a x32] HANGS with TortoiseSVN

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC 8.0ß17a x32] HANGS with TortoiseSVN

Post by *valexiev »

I use TortoiseSVN extensively with TC: the TortoiseSVN commands come up in the rclick menu.

Since I moved to 64-bit Windows7, TC started to hang on rclick sometimes.
I upgraded TC (I think to 8 beta), which fixed the problem.
Later it happened again, while TortoiseSVN was telling me it needs to be upgraded: upgrading it fixed the problem.

About 2 weeks ago, TC 8.0beta12 x32 (installer tc80x32_beta12.exe) started hanging.
I upgraded to the latest TortoiseSVN 1.7.4 Build 22459 - 64 Bit, and the latest TC 8.0beta12 x32 (tc80x32beta17a.exe), but the problem was not fixed.

Only when I upgraded to the 64-bit version (tc80x64beta17a.exe), the problem was fixed.
I have a reproducible setup where the latest 32-bit version hangs, and the latest 64-bit works fine. Let me know what debugging info I can provide.

The TC home page says (Jan 22): "there will not be many plugins available initially for 64-bit. If you use plugins extensively, you should keep using the 32-bit version." I haven't had problems with the 64-bit version yet, but I've only used it for a couple of hours...

I do not have any hangs at all with Tortoise, therefore I doubt that it is causes by Tortoise allone.

Try using ShellExView to remove other Explorer extensions, maybe the error goes away then.
