Total Commander v. 8.0b25 64-bit
Client: Windows 7 SP1, Intel Core i-7 2600 3.4 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Realtek PCIe GBE family network controller (1 gbit)
Server: Synology DS2411+ NAS running CIFS for SMB connections (no other network protocols currently enabled)
Files used to test ranged in size from 200 MB to 10 GB, typically MKV file type
Client uploads to server using Total Commander over Windows networking occur at expected rate (~100 MB/s) without problems
Client downloads from server using Total Commander over Windows networking occur at 10% of expected rate (10 MB/s). In addition, server CIFS service becomes unstable and resets once or twice a day.
Client downloads from server using Windows Explorer occur at expected rate (~100 MB/s) without causing problems for server CIFS service
These observations lead me to conclude that there's a bug in the Total Commander download process, at least at high data transfer rates
CIFS network downloads slow
