If a folder has the hidden option disabled is NOT displayed

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

If a folder has the hidden option disabled is NOT displayed

Post by *andreio »

For example try to see the new Google Drive folder when you have Total Commander's option to not display hidden directories. Google Drive has the hidden option unchecked and disabled.

I'm on Win 7 32 bit.

This issue is also present in TC 7.5.

Maybe it has system attribute? TC should show folder if it has no hidden/system attributes.

Yes, I'm referring to the hidden attribute for this folder ... the hidden attribute is unchecked and disabled. So you cannot check / uncheck it.

I want to put a screenshot in the forum ... but i'm not allowed since i'm new here

You may post a link in a form that won't be detected as link, e.g.: myhosting.com/image.png.

1. Try to enable showning hidden files...
2. ... or clear both (!) atributes H (hidden) and S (system) on your needed files/folders.

@ MAXX ... as you can see from the screenshot, I cannot the check/uncheck hidden option of this folder because the checkbox is disabled Google Drive software.

@Maxx

If you enable show hidden files, the folder will be displayed of course ... but I want to see it without this option enable ...

For example Windows Explorer is displaying the Google Drive folder, even though I don't have show hidden files enabled. But in Total Commender this does NOT happen.

andreio, please make a screenshot (or describe in a words) what attributes TC shows for this folder in a panel (in Attr column or in a status bar). Then try to change attributes (remove hidden and system and set read-only) using TC attributes dialog, not Explorer one.

Ok, I just installed, tried and uninstalled the Google Drive (I don't need it). It creates a normal folder with the System attribute enabled. That's why you can't see it in TC - it treats it the same way as hidden files. So you have two options:

1. Disable the system attribute using either a command line or TC's Change Attributes... dialog. Everything will continue working, the folder will just loose its icon. (I'd prefer this one)

2. Let the the folder as it is, just create a shortut to it. You can have the shortcut in the same dir as Google Drive's dir and you can even name it the same way. You will even see its icon in TC, however you will see two Google Drive folders in Explorer, too.

Not if the folder has a read only attribute.
Both attributes (system or read only) can be use for folder customization.
Btw: MS recommends to use read only attribute for customized folders.

You won't see two folders in Explorer, you will see a folder and a shortcut file.

Details ...
Anyway, just fixing the folder's attributes is a much cleaner solution.
